McDonald’s has a new dessert on the market. Who cares? how do we grow the mcdonald’s dessert user base?

The new Peanut Butter Crunch McFlurry needed people to choose it for dessert. How do we get a target audience to pick it? Who even is our target audience? And how can we best reach them?

Three other students and I were assigned this situation in our advertising class. We took our assignment seriously, flushing out the perfect audience in GWI and figuring out the best way to spend the media budget McDonald’s gave us.

UNDERSTANDING OUR AUDIENCE

Before we could answer our questions, we had to know who we were trying to reach. We created a persona for our target consumer based on general demographics to start, before diving deeper into their insights and behaviors using GWI, finding what habits they have, products they use, stores they shop at, and more.

We then took this information and created a master media plan for the new mcflurry.
